Gear Muster is a planning aid. It is not legal advice and not an inspection, survey or vessel safety check. The regulations and the officer on board decide what is required; rules change, and Gear Muster quotes them as read on October 15, 2026. For a check by a person at your boat, book a free Vessel Safety Check with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (cgaux.org/vsc), and have extinguishers inspected and serviced as their labels and makers say.

You are responsible for your boat's gear, its condition and its use. Life jackets, extinguishers and signals only help when they are serviceable and to hand.

Paid plans, once payments open, renew at the price shown until cancelled (the 7-day pass does not renew). You may cancel at any time and keep the plan to the end of the period paid. During preview nothing is charged.
